Teaching and Learning – - Together
The Early Childhood Education Program focuses on what matters most to infants and toddlers – family, community and the natural world. We believe it is our job to help guide children in cultivating a sense of wonder as they begin to explore the world around them. Children enrolled in The ECEP thrive in an engaged community where teachers observe and ask questions to discover the children’s ideas, hypotheses and theories. They enjoy a well-planned “yes” environment where they have the world at their fingertips. Children are allowed to develop at their own pace in an atmosphere of support and encouragement.
So much is accomplished in small classes like those at Cathedral. Our curriculum incorporates visits from The Cathedral School’s Chaplain as well as visits from specialists in art, music, Spanish, storytelling and movement. We strive to provide a managed balance between active and restful times throughout the day which helps children to establish routines and to learn to follow a schedule as they work, rest and play.
The Early Childhood Education Program is committed to hiring only the most qualified individuals. We believe children best grow physically, socially, emotionally, cognitively and spiritually when they are surrounded by skilled teachers who love them and who know how to watch for and celebrate developmental milestones. Our lead teachers hold college degrees and additional faculty members have either begun college coursework or have a Child Development Associate credential or equivalent.
The ECEP is a great place to be a child. It’s a place where your child can come to know life as a journey – - not a race.
