Synopsis and Cast

Set on the rocky coast of Cornwall, England in the late 19th century, The Pirates of Penzance begins with a group of pirates who are celebrating the birthday of one of their own, Frederic, who has reached his 21st year. Finally having served the full length of his required time with the pirates, he decides to strike off on his own and become an upstanding citizen – which may even mean bringing the pirates to justice. This turns out to be a tricky prospect indeed, especially when Frederic's freedom is called into question!

Join us for this hilarious farce with sentimental pirates, beautiful maidens, dim-witted young lovers, a bumbling band of police, and an eccentric Major-General. All of this is set to the classic music and lyrics of Gilbert and Sullivan, with the story told in a style more like The Cat In The Hat than merry old England.

Cast will include:
Pirate King – leader of the Pirates of Penzance
Frederic – the young pirate that has completed his obligation to the Pirates of Penzance... or has he?
Ruth – Frederic's old nursemaid who is a bit hard of hearing
Samuel – second in command to the Pirate King
Mabel – the most favorite of of General Stanley's wards
Major-General Stanley – an orphan like the Pirates of Penzance... or, is he really?
Edith, Kate and Isabel – beautiful maidens who are wards of General Stanley
Sergeant – the Sergeant of Police
