Thank You Susan!

Dear People of Trinity Cathedral,
From shortly after my arrival as interim Dean, the Rev. Susan Sims Smith has been with us as a volunteer Priest Associate—preaching, teaching, taking services, and ready with wise advice and spiritual counsel. After nearly two years, she needs to more fully turn her attention to the rich variety of other work to which God has called her. October 11 will be her last day with us as a staff volunteer and part of the Sunday Rota. This happens also to be Stewardship Sunday. I would hard-pressed to name a person I have known who more devoutly applies the principles of stewardship—time, talent, treasure—than our friend Susan.
We will have a brief farewell presentation during both the 9:00 and 11:15 services. Be sure and take a moment to thank Susan for her faithful service.

A note from Susan:
I have had the joy of serving as your part time priest associate for a little over the last year and a half. I have watched you pull together, dream big dreams and head in a wonderful direction.
I have enjoyed preaching, teaching, and helping with the liturgy as well as getting to renew old friendships and make new ones. Now I am hearing a call to refocus my work on more teaching. I have always done a lot of teaching through classes and workshops around the state. In my quiet time, the call to take up that ministry again is very strong. Because of this call, it is time for me to conclude my time at Trinity. When I discussed this with Chris in late August, I told him how much I regretted the loss I know I will feel of my work with you. Please know this has been a rich time for me while being at Trinity. I thank you for the opportunity to be a small part of your journey through this time of transition. I agree that the possibilities for Trinity are boundless. You will be in my heart and prayers as you continue to move forward. Please keep me and my ministry for Christ in your prayers also. Gods peace and blessings to you.
