Thank You Susan!

October 06, 2015

Dear People of Trinity Cathedral,

From shortly after my arrival as interim Dean, the Rev. Susan Sims Smith has been with us as a volunteer Priest Associate—preaching, teaching, taking services, and ready with wise advice and spiritual counsel. After nearly two years, she needs to more fully turn her attention to the rich variety of other work to which God has called her. October 11 will be her last day with us as a staff volunteer and part of the Sunday Rota. This happens also to be Stewardship Sunday. I would hard-pressed to name a person I have known who more devoutly applies the principles of stewardship—time, talent, treasure—than our friend Susan.

Preaching this Sunday: The Rev. Susan Payne

Stewardship Talks by Craig Douglass (9:00 and 11:15) and Dr. Henry Thomas (5:00).

Adult Formation:

  • The Dean's Class: The mysteries of Christ are the heart of the life through which, as a theologian once put it, we are made to be strong in our weakness, to see in our blindness, and to hear in our deafness “by the One who, according to the Easter Story, goes through closed doors.” "The Mysteries of Christ," led by Dr. Keller, meets at 10:15 in Morrison Hall.  The topic this week is "His Teaching."
  • Newcomers Class: Michael McNeely leads a class especially designed for newcomers and guests at 10:15 a.m. in the Cathedral.
  • Living the Questions will meet in the Conference Room. The topic is "More on The 10? Commandments of Jesus? in Mark?" Dr. Robert Johnston  will lead a discussion. Attendees are invited but not required to participate. It is usually lively. Bring in your brunch.

You can find more on Adult Formation here.

Children's Formation meets at 10:10 a.m. for all ages.  It's never to late to join.  You can find more on Children's Formation here.

Acolyte Training for youth (grades 6th-12th) continues at 10:15 a.m.  We meet in the vesting room.
