HOLY WEEK AND EASTER 2019

April 14 PALM SUNDAY
7:30 a.m., 9:00 a.m., and 11:15 a.m.
Holy Eucharist Rite I. On this day, we distribute palm crosses, process with palms to celebrate our Lord’s triumphal entry into Jerusalem, and read the Passion gospel according to Luke. Childcare will be available from 8:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

5:00 p.m. PALM SUNDAY PASSION VESPERS
A service of the spoken word and music featuring readings selected from Scripture and other writings interspersed with seasonal music sung by the Cathedral Choir to illuminate the texts.

April 15 MONDAY OF HOLY WEEK
12:15 p.m. Holy Eucharist in the Chancel

April 16 TUESDAY OF HOLY WEEK
12:15 p.m. Holy Eucharist in the Chancel
Celebrant: The Bishop of Arkansas, The Rt. Rev. Larry Benfield. The Bishop will bless chrism (anointing oil) for use in baptisms throughout the Diocese of Arkansas.

April 17 WEDNESDAY OF HOLY WEEK
 5:15 p.m. Holy Eucharist in the Chapel

April 18 MAUNDY THURSDAY
7:00 p.m.
This Eucharist is a celebration of our Lord’s institution of the sacrament of his Body and Blood. The liturgy will end with the stripping of the altar.


April 19 GOOD FRIDAY*
12:15 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.
The traditional Good Friday liturgy includes a setting of the Gospel of John’s account of the Lord’s trial, suffering, and death sung by Cathedral Choir members.

April 20 EASTER EVE SERVICE OF HOLY BAPTISM
7:30 p.m.
Our Easter celebration begins with a candlelight evening service of Holy Baptism. Childcare will be available at 7:15 p.m.

April 21 EASTER DAY
7:30 a.m. Rite I
9:00 a.m., and 11:15 a.m. Rite II Celebrant: The Bishop of Arkansas, The Rt. Rev. Larry Benfield.
5:00 p.m. Rite II

10:15 a.m. EASTER EGGSTRAVAGANZA
The annual Easter Egg Hunt will be held on the playground (rain location: Gym) for all the children of the Cathedral who want to participate! Eggs provided, please bring your own basket.

FLOWERING OF THE CROSS & MITE BOX INGATHERING (All morning)
All are invited to participate in the traditional Flowering of Cross. Please bring flowers to decorate the cross, placed outside on the front landing of the Cathedral (Individual stems work best!) There will also be a Mite Box Ingathering. Baskets will be available by the tables of the Cathedral for your Mite Boxes. This year’s offering will go to Episcopal Relief and Development.



*PLEASE NOTE: Cathedral Offices will close at 12:00 p.m.
on Good Friday and are closed all day Easter Monday (April 22).
