On May 25 at 6:00 p.m., Trinity will host a cook-out for the resident veterans at Saint Francis House. All are invited to come have dinner with some of the men and women who have served our country and show your support. The veterans were impressed by the warmth and friendliness of the parish at the last dinner, so let’s maintain that tradition. We need people to help with food prep, hospitality, serving and more. If you would like to be part of the event team, please contact Jerry Shurgar at wgs3@sbcglobal.net.

If the scheduled execution takes place on Thursday, we will have a brief ecumenical service at 6:00 p.m., followed by a candlelight vigil in the Cathedral culminating in the toll of bells.
Saturday at Trinity Cathedral:
Acolyte Festival Closing Eucharist
Acolyte Festival closing Eucharist will be held this Saturday, April 29 at 5:00 p.m. Please join us in support of acolyte programs from around the state. The children and youth will have participated in workshops all day to learn how to serve at the altar. Everyone is invited to the service.
Service of Prayer on the Eve of Executions
April 20, 2017
Tonight at 6:00 p.m., the Cathedral will hold a special “Service of Prayer and Vigil on the Eve of Executions.” Our solemn prayers and music are Easter-themed. They will be for the men sentenced to death and their loved ones, for the victims of the acts for which they have been sentenced and their loved ones, and for those who must execute these sentences. For all of these, and for ourselves, we will pray for hope, for strength, and for mercy.
This service will take place whether or not executions go forward.
If executions do go forward, or might, then following the service, worship participants are invited to keep a silent vigil in the Cathedral, continuing up to the moment of execution.
The services and vigils are offered for the public and all are welcome.
Service of Prayer and Vigil on the Eve of Executions
April 18, 2017
On Thursday, April 20, at 6:00 p.m., Trinity Episcopal Cathedral will hold a special “Service of Prayer and Vigil on the Eve of Executions.” Our prayers and music for this solemn occasion are Easter-themed. They will be for the men sentenced to death and their loved ones, for the victims of the acts for which they have been sentenced and their loved ones, and for those who must execute these sentences. For all of these, and for ourselves, we will pray for hope, for strength, and for mercy.
This service will take place whether or not executions go forward on Thursday night. The uncertainty itself calls for prayerful attention.
If the executions now planned for this Thursday do take place as scheduled, then following worship, participants are invited to keep a silent candlelight vigil in the Cathedral, continuing up to the moment of execution, at which time Cathedral tower bells will toll.
Guests at the service are expected to include some members of the Arkansas Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty, who plan to make the short walk to the gate of the Governor’s Mansion, and keep a candlelight vigil there.
If the executions now scheduled for Monday, April 24 and Thursday, April 27 take place, we will have a brief ecumenical service each of those nights at 6:00 p.m., followed by candlelight vigil in the Cathedral culminating in the toll of bells.
The services and vigils are offered for the public and all are welcome. To let the emphasis be on prayer, we ask that no photographs or video be taken inside the church.
